Classes for the 2019/2020 Season

(September 2019 - May 2020)

​Preschool Dance

Ages 3-4 (1 hour class) 
This class is perfect for the preschooler that loves to move and use their imagination. They will be introduced to basic ballet moves along with some basic flexibility exercises. This class will teach preschoolers how to behave in a classroom setting and have fun at the same time. They will learn a dance that will be performed in the winter and spring recital.

Preschool Tumbling 

Ages 3-4 (1 hour class)

This class is perfect for the little one that is always on the go! We will teach the students proper and safe ways to execute basic skills that they can use in future classes. Some skill may include: forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands and cartwheels. There will also be fun movement games incorporated to build strength. This class will perform in the winter and spring recital. 

*Add this class with preschool dance for maximum value! 

Ballet/Tap
Ages 5-6 (1hour class)

This class is the combination of both ballet and tap. They will learn basic ballet combinations at the barre along with some exercises across the floor. They will also be introduced to tap rhythms and will perform a tap dance at the winter and spring recital. This class is the perfect combination of learning new things and having fun!

*Add this class with beginning tumbling and or mini kids hip hop for maximum value! 

Beginning Tumbling

Ages 5-6 (1 hour class)

In this class students will learn exercises to increase flexibility and strength and basic tumbling moves that will progress as the year goes on.  Some skills will include the different types of cartwheels, round offs and handstands. As well as exposure to front limbers, back walkovers and more.

Mini Kids Hip Hop

Ages 5-8 (1 hour class) 

This class is perfect for the young dancer that likes to move and groove! Our mini kids hip hop class teaches rhythm, coordination, musicality and confidence without suggestive music or movements. Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class. This class will perform in the winter and spring recital. 

*Add this class with either ballet/tap or ballet/jazz/tap and either beginning tumbling or Jr tumbling (depends on age) for maximum value! 

​Ballet/Jazz/Tap
Ages 7-8 (1 hour class)

Ballet/Jazz/Tap is when the students really get to show off their personalities. They will start the class with basic ballet combinations at the barre along with combinations across the floor. Next they will learn basic jazz moves. The last part of class is tap, where they will learn new rhythms and combinations across the floor. They will learn a jazz dance and a tap dance that will be preformed in the winter and spring recital that will really show off their new skills. This is the perfect class to take your young dancer to the next level!

Jr Tumbling

Ages 7-8 (1 hour class)

This class picks up where the beginning tumbling class left off with the review of: cartwheels, round offs, front limbers, back walkovers, handstands and more. Once the class is ready they will begin the intro to the back handspring, front walkover and aerial.

Progressive levels - Take as many styles as you want, or just one, whatever works for your budget! 

​Level 1 - Ages 9-10
Level 2 - Ages 11-12

​Level 3 - Ages 13-14
Level 4 - Ages 15-18

Ballet 

Levels 1,2,3 & 4 (1 hour class) 

 Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. As students progress through each level the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Even though ballet isn't always the favorite class we strive to make it fun and exciting!  Ballet is so important for proper training and progression that we encourage every dancer to take ballet! This class will perform in the winter and spring recital. 

Pointe

This class will be incorporated into level 4 ballet only! Talk to Miss Alyssa or Miss Breanna to see if your dancer is ready for pointe!

Tap

Levels 1/2, 3 & 4 (half hour class)

Our tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from broadway to rhythm tap. Exercises focus on coordination and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds and having fun. As students progress through each level the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. This class will take place in both the winter and spring recital. 

Tumbling

Intermediate Tumbling = Levels 1 & 2  (1 hour class)

Advanced Tumbling = Levels 3 & 4 (1 hour class)

Tumbling classes begin with a warm-up to stretch and enhance flexibility. Each class works on various tumbling skills depending on the level of the class. Skills range from cartwheels, back walkovers and front walkovers in the beginning to handsprings, tucks and aerials in the advanced class. This class will take place in both the winter and spring recital.

Hip Hop 

Levels 1, 2 & 3/4 (1 hour class)              

Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. This class will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. This class will take place in both the winter and spring recital.

Jazz/Lyrical 

Levels 1, 2, 3 & 4 (1 hour class) 

This class is a fusion of both jazz and lyrical! The winter recital will showcase a jazz dance and the spring recital will showcase a lyrical dance. The same costume will be used for both recitals as we will find a versatile costume that will work with both styles. 

 

The jazz portion of the class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. The jazz portion will take place in the winter recital. 

The lyrical portion will focus on the showing off their ballet technique with an emotional performance quality. Students will explore partnering and weight sharing exercises showing strength and beauty. Lyrical emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. The lyrical portion will take place in the spring recital. 

Dance Team Technique 

Levels 3 & 4 (1 hour class) 

This class is for anyone participating in high school dance team. This class will focus on flexibility training, turn technique, higher jumps and basic acro moves dancers can incorporate into their routines. Dancers will also learn new jumps and turns that they can bring back to their team.
